A recent study found emphasized the danger of workplace foods from sources like vending machines and cafeterias or that were provided for free through break areas, meetings, or social events. These workplace foods added up to almost 1300 additional calories per week!

And these were not highly nutritional foods either. You know the things that are usually provided or that come out of vending machines. Cookies, chips, candy cakes, etc...
I feel your pain! People say to me all the time, "I bet you never eat stuff like this." You would be wrong my friend. I love all that stuff, I just don't keep it in my house and I don't work in an office. There are many days I will go in my pantry hoping some sort of magical cake will have appeared in there. Hasn't happened yet. Frowny face.
Are you depressed enough yet? Well it is about to get worse I'm afraid. Because we are coming through the Kenny Loggins Danger Zone of nutrition. Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.
That means leftover Halloween candy, homemade pies and cakes, parties with all the delicious things we all love. We HAVE to get a game plan together.
First step is being aware it is coming, so you can mentally prepare yourself to be strong.
Step two, is to have something to ward the evil spirits off. Having healthy snacks available is a great idea. I didn't say lame snack, that is not the same as healthy. Find something you really enjoy, but that just happens to be good for you.
Step three, is to give your palate a distraction. I had no idea what else to call this step. This could mean either chewing gum or brushing your teeth. Most of those foods I mentioned earlier taste very good with gum or minty fresh breath.
Step four is not always possible, but avoid even seeing these foods whenever you can. Just seeing them will make you have an instant craving, where before you were fine.
These next few months are crucial. There will be lots of things to distract and pull you away from eating healthy and exercising. Don't give in and let's finish the year strong!
