Self care is a pretty popular topic for people to talk about these days. But the problem is it is mostly talk about how important it is and then don't practice it.
The definition of self care is: the practice of taking an active role in protecting one's own well-being and happiness, in particular during periods of stress.
How many of us are doing that? Probably not as many of us as we should. Some benefits of self care are:
-more productive
-increased immunity (get sick less)
-more positive outlook on life
-able to manage stress in a healthy manner
-more confident
There are several other benefits as well, but the main idea is that it makes you an overall healthier and happier person.
Last week, I spoke to a group from the American Cancer Society about leadership and the importance of self care. I shared this Self Care Checklist with them and thought you might like a copy as well.

You won't be able to complete the whole checklist every day, but the main idea is to keep these things top of mind for you. The better you take care of yourself, the better you are equipped to take care of everything and everyone else in your life.
