It can be overwhelming to think how far you have to go when have a challenging goal you want to meet. And we want to reach that goal RIGHT NOW! So how do we keep that long term approach, but still keep ourselves motivated and not overwhelmed?
We focus on winning the day.
What does that mean? Well, it is different for everybody but the main thing is to keep moving forward. Keep making progress every day and piling up those little wins.
I would suggest breaking your Wins into 4 different categories:
1. Exercise
2. Nutrition
3. Stress relief
4. Body maintenance
Some win examples for these could be:
1. Exercise
-went to an exercise class
-went for a walk
-did yoga
2. Nutrition
-prep a meal
-ate a vegetable
-drank 64 ounces of water
3. Stress relief
-plan your day
-meditate
-write in your gratitude journal
4. Body maintenance
-foam rolled for 10 minutes
-got a massage
-got 7 hours of sleep
You're not going to win every day, that's just the reality of life. But imagine how far along you would be if you win 250 of the 365 days of this year.
Keep your eyes on that long term goal, but don't get bogged down with the enormity of it. Just win one day at a time, as often as you can.
