A few weeks ago on a day that was smoking hot I decided to go for a run. That was unusual for me for three reasons.

1. I hardly ever run

2. Especially when it is hot

3. 20 minutes earlier I had an odd snack of a cup of coffee with Taki's

If you're not familiar with Taki's, they are spicy, rolled tortilla chips. My son loves them and they caught me eyeing them at a weak moment. Another reason you should never get things "for the kids". You'll end up eating them too.

So I set out for this run and my hip was hurting, heart was heart burning, and my body just felt confused by the whole situation. I ran about 3 miserable miles and I wouldn't call it fun, but I'm glad I did it.

There is value in doing hard things.

I could write a whole post just about that, but my main takeaway is that I have been slipping in my nutrition accountability. It is one thing to write down in your food journal that you didn't eat so well the day before. It is a much bigger deal if you know that when your hydration and nutrition is not on point, you are going to be miserable in your workouts.

Those hard workouts keep you accountable to your nutrition!

Since I workout by myself it is easy to slowly start slipping in the effort I give my workouts. That has led me to allow my nutrition to slip too.
Take stock of where you are with your nutrition and your workouts and asky yourself a few question:

Are you properly fueling your workouts?

What accountability have you built into your nutrition?

Have you noticed how much better you workouts are when your nutrition is on point?

Have you fallen into a routine you need to break (wine/drinks every night, eating out nightly, etc...)

I'm committed to getting back laser focused on my nutrition and workouts. Are you ready to do the same?
