I've been throwing out a lot of steps lately on how to lose fat, get rid of winter weight, and get a recipe for success. A lot of information at once can be overwhelming. A lot of people have asked me, "This is all good information, but where do I start?"

My answer is always to start with exercise. I know a fitness guy saying you really need to exercise is like a car salesman telling you you really need a new car, but it's true and backed up by research.
Check out this quote from Charles Duhigg's book “The Power of Habit: Why We Do What We Do in Life and Business”:

“When people start habitually exercising, even as infrequently as once a week, they start changing other, unrelated patterns in their lives, often unknowingly.

Typically people who exercise start eating better and becoming more productive at work. They smoke less and show more patience with colleagues and family.

They use their credit cards less frequently and say they feel less stressed. It’s not completely clear why…‘Exercise spills over,’ said James Prochaska, a University of Rhode Island researcher. ‘There’s something about it that makes other good habits easier.’”

That covers almost every New Year's Resolution out there! And I have seen this first hand with the people I train. First they start exercising, then sleeping better, then eating healthier foods, then drinking more water, then becoming more active outside of boot camp, then becoming more open to others, then laughing more, and then stressing less.
It is very common and it is very awesome to see. So if you don't know where to start, just start moving.
