I shared a Self Care Checklist on Facebook last week and it seemed to hit a nerve with a lot of people. So I thought this might be able to help you. We are all so busy that we neglect the most important person in our lives, ourselves. Here it is:
-Get 7-8 hours sleep
-Stay hydrated
-Eat 3 meals
-Brush and floss
-Take meds
-Exercise
-Go outside for fresh air and sunshine
-Laugh out loud
-Take a shower or bath
-Ask for help when you need it
-Listen to your favorite music
-Spend time around people who lift you up
-Pray, reflect, and/or meditate
-Write down one thing you are grateful for
Each of these has unique benefits and is a little different for everybody. This is not a list you have to complete every day, not many of us can pull that off.
My suggestion is for you to look through the list and see which ones resonate the most with you. Are you doing them as often as possible? If not, start there and make them part of your daily routine. Or even start with one!
Self care is not selfish and it is not a waste of time. It is actually crucial not only to your livelihood and quality of life, but also to those around you.
Take the time, start small if needed, and make yourself a priority every day.
