What does your morning routine look like? For most people it is a feeling of not having enough time. Then the rest of the day follows suit. Always feeling behind and overwhelmed.

If that is you, it is time to revamp your morning routine.

And this is not one of those routines where you have to get up and hour earlier so you can meditate, workout, balance your checkbook and your chakras, create world peace, and then shower. This is a routine you weave in between the responsibilities you already have.

The main purpose of this routine is to fill your cup and take care of you. Just like the old saying goes "You can't take care of anyone else if you don't take care of yourself."

A great morning routine, starts the night before. Take a few minutes to plan out your next day and write down a to-do list. This will make you feel in control and will help you sleep better at night. And for the next day it takes away the decision fatigue that can sap your energy.

I just learned about a great morning routine from Holly Rigsby. The 3 components of this routine are: movement, mindset, and nourish.

Movement could be a simple 5 minute walk, some stretching, a few squats. Anything to help wake you up and get you going for the day.

Mindset is all about how you are going to approach the day. A great way to set the tone for the day is to practice gratitude. Think of one thing every morning that you are grateful for.

Nourish can go either way. In my opinion the best way to physically nourish yourself in the morning, is to get up and drink some water. Most of us wake up dehydrated, so this is a great way to get more energized.

This is also a great time to nourish yourself spiritually as well. Prayer, meditation, and journaling are all great options here.

You could fit all three of these into less than 10 minutes. None of them have to be big, elaborate productions. Start small and you can always build up.

What we practice daily is what we build our life on. Start building the life you want by starting your day off right.
