I am a member of a networking group called BNI, Business Networking International. It is a group founded by Dr. Ivan Misner that teaches businesses how to help each other out through building relationships and referrals.
When Dr. Misner was in school he used to always get in trouble for talking too much. Then he grew up and founded an organization that is almost 100% based to talking to other people! He called this little piece of his own history "What's in the way becomes the way".
I thought was a pretty awesome way of looking at it. Personally my experiences of being overweight, depressed, out of shape, and injured have allowed me to help more people than what I learned in college.
What are the obstacles in your way right now? It might not seem like it, but they could be what leads you to what you are meant to do. Because I have been where the people I train are when I meet them, I can empathize with what they are going through.
I haven't always been in shape, it didn't happen on it's own, and I can't just eat whatever I want . People tell me those things a lot, but I can assure you it's not true. It is a continual struggle to stay in shape and eat right, especially the past few weeks. But I know it can be done because I have overcome obstacles in the past.
So if you are struggling right now, don't get down on yourself and don't give up. You are just setting yourself up for an amazing comeback. Dr. Misner also has another great quote on this subject, "Focus on your roadblock and turn it into an overpass."
