just-do-it-hed-2013

I told you in my last post that I had been procrastinating about starting boot camp classes in the Harvest/Monrovia area for a long time. The worst part is that I had everything I needed to get started and get it off the ground.

So what kept holding me back? Taking action.

I see people do this a lot with exercise and nutrition. They can tell you every exercise ever invented. The benefits of strength training vs cardio training. The perfect foods to eat in the perfect amounts at the perfect times.

They own every exercise tape (yes I mean VCR tape), DVD, and piece of equipment ever manufactured. They own the Paleo handbook and the Gluten Free Cookbook.

The one thing they are missing is putting it all to use. It's all about implementation.

My pastor preached a sermon called "Just Do It". It was about not just hearing what the Bible says, but actually getting out there and doing what it says.

Here are 3 ways to go from just hearing to putting what you know into action:

1. Hearing is still part of the equation

It is very important to stay knowledgeable on your personal health and fitness! Keep learning, keep getting new products, keep purchasing books and videos you are interested in. Just start doing the things you learn rather than just stockpiling information.

2. Recognize that we can't do it alone

Some people can do it alone, most of us can't. The greatest athletes in the world still have coaches. The most successful business people still have mentors. Find someone who can help you on your journey.

It could be a trainer, coach, friend, workout partner, etc... Someone who will help you do your best, keep you accountable, and pick you up when you want to quit.

3. We have to be courageous

You know who I respect the most? The people I see out there exercising who have every reason in the world not to. Severely overweight, crippled, sick, old, weak.

Those are the people who get me fired up. That is courage. They are proof that you might not be able to do what other people can do, but you can definitely do something.

So where are you in these steps?

Do you need to learn more?

Do you need help?

Are you afraid?

Decide where you are and what you are going to do about it. If there is some way I can help you, don't hesitate to reach out. Anything I can do to help you I will do.

Have an awesome day and I look forward to hearing from you.
