Let the record show that on September 17, 2018 history was made. Huntsville, AL was host to the first ever Rocket City Microthon. Plenty of cities have marathons of 26.2 miles, but no one else has a race that is 0.12K (393 feet) long.
It was such an amazing day! The race was a fundraiser for Merrimack Hall. Merrimack's mission is: To provide visual and performing arts education, and cultural activities, to children and adults with special needs and to provide quality professional entertainment to the community.
And the kids from Merrimack put on a show! Awesome dance routines and they put the finisher's medals on the racers, then autographed them too. You could tell the dancers from Merrimack really felt like the super stars they are.
The community came together and really supported the race. So far the Microthon has raised around $15,000! Amazing.

Look at how many people are there looking so happy. That is my absolute favorite part.
The Rocket City Microthon was put on by my friend and client Lesley Burnette. Her daughter Kate loved Merrimack Hall, so Lesley wanted to do something in her memory. And she did such an amazing job.
In a world where you usually only hear about the depressing news stories, I hope this brightens your day a little.
