I said on Monday I have been experimenting with binaural beats, so I wanted to share a little bit more about them. First I want to share the potential, emphasis on potential, benefits:
- increased focus
- increased concentration
- increased motivation
- increased confidence
- deeper meditation
- improved psychomotor performance and mood
- less stress
- less anxiety
I will tell you how the experts say you are supposed to use them and how I have been using them. They go right in line with the power naps I talked about on Monday because you need 15-30 minutes. The same amount of time as the power nap suggestion.
Find a quiet place, put on your headphones, and play your beats. You need the headphones because of how the brain works.
In layman's terms, two tones with different frequencies are sent in at the same time to your ears. One ear gets one sound, the other ear gets the other. The brain then comes up with a third tone by a fancy math equation involving Hertz. From there things go even further over my head.
It's pretty interesting stuff though, so I have been giving it a try. I use it during my power napping and I have seen a difference in mood and concentration.
I also use it at night sometime just because I find the sounds relaxing and it seems to help my sleep quality. But I don't sleep with headphones on so I don't think I am getting all the fancy Hertz related brain wave stuff. My sleep quality has increased though.
So where do you get these beats? You can buy them on the internet of course, but I have just been using the "binural sleep" playlist on Spotify. I don't even care that it is spelled wrong, I like it. Supposedly different beats effect different brain waves, but I'm not that deep with it.
Give it a try and let me know what you think. And if you have any experience with binaural beats, I would love to hear about it!
